You need a current US Passport in order to be allowed in Spain if you are a US citizen. If you are not a US citizen and yet live in the US, you will need a Visa to get into Spain. You also should ask your travel agent if any additional paperwork is needed.

You don’t necessarily need to be fluent in Spanish in order to enjoy a trip to Spain, but know some of the basic phrases. If you ever spent ant time watching Sesame Street, you will pick up on just enough Spanish to help you get by.
